Welcome to the Cetan Nagin Control Program Installation Manual

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System is an intelligence gathering and analysis system using distributed control. The analysis system built on OS independent XAMPP Apache HTTP and MySQL Database Server platforms. Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk operating system's independence allows the Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System to function on both Windowstm, and Linux based operating systems. The automatic local control of the remote radio receivers, direction finders, and analysis programs is accomplished via a local Apache HTTP Server and MySQL Database. Remote Control of the Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System is accomplished by remotely accessing HTML web pages and MySQL database on a local XAMPP server (ie internet appliance). The use of generic HTML web pages and MySQL database allows remote access, control, data access, and data analysis across multiple operating system platforms (including cell phones and pda's). The user can control multiple remote Cetan Nagin Systems functions from any computer with tcp/ip internet access.

You do not have to reinstall Apache Friends XAMPP if you are running 1.7.3 or later. If you are running an older version of Apache Friends XAMPP, you must uninstall Apache XAMPP using the Apache Uninstall program. Remember to stop all XAMPP services before you uninstall XAMPP via the XAMPP control panel. If you do not uninstall previous versions of XAMPP services your computer will definitely have problems. Early versions of Apache Friends do not support the programming language APEX. APEX is used for the remote HTML (over the internet) viewing and control of Cetan Nagan radio control programs and remote data base interaction and control. If you uninstall XAMPP - Reboot the computer before starting the Cetan Nagin installation.

When you are uninstalling an older version of Apache Friends XAMPP - DO NOT DELETE YOUR HTDOCS DIRECTORY OR DATA BASE WHEN ASKED!! You will lose all of the existing data if you delete the MySQL Data Base or local web pages.

If you have program elements or are doing a re-install, you may skip previously loaded programs by clicking cancel when the inquiry message box / window pops up.

If you have Apache HTTPD or MySQL data base server installed on your computer, you should back up the Apache HTTPD web pages and MySQL data bases before loading (or reloading) the Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System and associated support programs.

Make a copy of the critical folders as follows. Right Click on the folder and select copy. Next ;left click on edit in the window explorer tool bar. Click on paste in the drop down menu. The windowstm operating system will make a copy of the critical folder.

FOLDER NAMES NEEDED TO BE BACKED UP - PATH TO FOLDER
htdocs - C:/xampp/
data - C:/xampp/MySQL/

If you install Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk in the order presented on this web page you will have no difficulties installing the total software package.




 


Setting The Background To A Solid Color

The present version of Cetan Nagin does not support desktop night time dimming of wallpaper background. You must remove any Windowstm desktop wallpaper for Cetan Nagin desktop dimming to function properly. If you are using Microsoft Vistatm you may notice that the start button does not dim properly (or other elements). We have identified three different OEM Vistatm versions used on desk top computers and two different versions used on on portables alone. If you have a desktop element that does not dim - please email us at systems@cetannagin.com the computers manufacturer and model number and the service pack level (can be found in the system folder in the control panel). Thank you for your help.

We strongly recommend you set your desktop background color to red or black to protect your night vision if you wish to use the dimming feature at night.

Installing The Java Interpreter

If you have Java SE Development Kit 10 or later installed on your computer you can skip this step.

Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) lets you develop and deploy Java applications on desktops and servers, Embedded, and Real-Time environments.

The Java Interpreter is necessary for two XAMPP Web server functions

  • Tomcat - open source software implementation of the Java Servlet and Java Server Pages technologies used in the email server

  • Remote Audio

Installing XAMPP --- Apache HTTP Server / MySQL Database Engine

XAMPP  is a free and open source cross-platform package, containing the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages. The Apache HTTPD server / MySQL Database and support software used in the Cetan Nagin implementation is distributed by Apache Friends, a non-profit project to promote the Apache web server. Apache Friends was founded in the spring of 2002 by Kai 'Oswald' Seidler and Kay Vogelgesang. Apache Friends has implemented a freeware implementation of Apache Web server / MySQL Database towards promoting the Apache Web Server and related technologies:

  1. Easy to use software (install).

  2. Easy to read documentation (FAQ is one of the best in the computer industry).

  3. Extensive online Forums/FAQs to help WITH any "interesting" questions or "deployment" problems.

If you want to know more about Apache Friends please take a look at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/index.html. Apache Friends latest released contains the following versions of XAMPP:

Vista Note: Because missing or insufficient write permissions in the c:\program files folder of the default vista installation, Cetan Nagin recommends to use alternate folders for XAMPP e.g. "c:\xampp"  (the default installation hard disk location)

Installing Apple QuickTimeTM

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System utilizes QuickTimetm audio visual plug-in for multiple functions;

  • As an embedded audio player to playback recorded signals (data analysis web pages)
  • Listen to the remote receivers audio remotely over the internet.
QuickTimetm allows the audio streams to be played on all Mozilla's based browsers (Firefox, Safari, etc.)

Installing Cetan Nagin Command and Control Programs

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System  C++ Command and Control Programs provide the interface and direct control of the Remote Radio Receiver

  1. The Command and Control Programs are zipped at www.CetanNagin.com/zip/command.zip 
  2. Down load the zipped.files to temporary file folder.
  3. UnZip (expand) the command.zip file to the "c:/" root folder




Installing Cetan Nagin Database Control Tables

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System  Database Control Tables provide for automatic control of the Remote Radio Receiver

  1. The Command and Control Programs are zipped at www.CetanNagin.com/zip/database.zip 
  2. Down load the zipped.files to temporary file folder.
  3. UnZip (expand) the database.zip file to the "c:/xampp/mysql/data/" MySQL database folder.



Installing Cetan Nagin DLL's

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System system dll's  are used by the Command and Control Programs and the MySQL automatic control functions to control the Remote Radio Receiver

  1. The Cetan Nagin program dll;s are zipped at "www.CetanNagin.com/zip/dll.zip" 
  2. Down load the zipped.files to a temporary file folder.
  3. UnZip (expand) the dll.zip file to the "c:/windows/ system32/" system file folder. 





Installing Cetan Nagin Web Server HTML Programs

Cetan Nagin - Shadow Hawk Remote Signals and Communications Intelligence System  Web Server HTML Programs provide automatic MySQL database control of the Remote Radio Receiver Control Programs.

  1. The Command and Control Programs are zipped at www.CetanNagin.com/zip/html.zip.
  2.   Down load the zipped.files to the a temporary folder.
  3. UnZip (expand) the html.zip file to the "c:/xampp/htdocs/" file folder

Starting the Cetan Nagin Radio Control Program

Calibrating the Cetan Nagin Radio Control Program

A separate calibration program is used to calibrate the host computer's timing differences where the Cetan Nagin's Remote Radio Receivers Control Program is located.  The host computer  temporally (continuously) analyzes the incoming signal radio signal to obtain CTCSS, DCS, Trunking IDs, etc information about the incoming radio transmission.   The computer program to temporally calibrate the Radio Control Program is very large and requires extensive computer resources.  The calibration program is located in a server farm and uses cloud computing to temporally calibrate the Remote Radio Receiver's Control Program.

The host computer must be connected to the web the first time the Cetan Nagin Remote Receiver Radio Control Program is used.   Unless the Cetan Nagin is calibrated, the Remote Radio Receiver Control Program will remain in a very basic mode with any measurement requiring timing accuracy will be suspect.

The calibration of the Cetan Nagin System occurs the first time you enter an activitaion id / password.

Installing Cetan Nagin Demonstration Audio Files

Cetan Nagin Demonstration Audio Files are the recorded audio wave files and associated MySQL tables are used to demonstrate the data analysis program's functionality.  The recorded audio wave files and associated MySQL tables are grouped together in a single zip file.

The zipped files contain the proper paths to be expanded to the "c:/" root folder.

Monitoring A Single Frequency

Warning - the zipped file is megabytes Long - Cetan Nagin recommends you obtain an installation disk from one of our vendors.

  1. The examples of Monitoring A Single Radio Frequency are zipped at www.CetanNagin.com/zip/single.zip 
  2. Down load the zipped.files to temporary file folder.
  3. Unzip (expand) the single.zip file to the "c:/" root folder.

Scanning For Radio Transmitter Power Levels Only
